Seeing is always mediated, and this work addresses this idea. These images are views of the sky in Vancouver British
Columbia seen through, and with power lines. I have always been interested in looking up at the sky, something I
learnt to do when I moved to Dublin, Ireland to attend art college. Before then, I never felt I had to look for,
or up at the sky; it was always there, uninterrupted. Since moving to Vancouver in January 2007 I have noticed that oftentimes my
view of the sky is interrupted and mediated by powerlines - lines that run parallel, crossover and under, join, come together,
veer apart, and go in different directions establishing connections and alliances, creating boundaries and enclosures. While
the powerlines interrupt how I see the sky, they too become subjects of interest - ceilings of lines to be looked at, observed,
understood and imagined anew.
